about

Atomic Symphony No. 5 is probably the best in the series so far – in my opinion.

The First Movement, with the chorus of horns giving it a Latin slant, especially in the finale, has a kind of joy that I try to bring to every moment of these pieces. When I finished it initially, I was looking for a bit of video to use on social media and found a clip from an old TV variety show of a troupe of very 1950’s looking dancers doing the Charleston. Somehow the footage fit perfectly, with the performers clapping at exactly right moments. It highlights the silly exuberance and encouragement to dance that went into producing this opening track.

I've posted the video to the single version of the Movement.

The Third Movement of Atomic Symphony No. 5 still surprises me every time I listen to it again. It opens with rhythm of guitar notes that remind me of The Cure – especially the Disintegration album – but flows to a massive finale that just seems to get more immense as it expands forward.
