about

This being the first foray into creating a pop-inflected version of the symphony, the sound and rhythms of Beethoven were in the driver’s seat. Though I have relaxed that influence in the works that follow, I still listen this this initial outing with a great deal of joy.

There is a section in the 3rd movement (starting at 04:57) that really grabbed me. I had decided to work with a vocal sample in Logic’s Alchemy synth that had an oriental tone, and what developed from that – from single voices to a choral build – just surprised the hell out of me. It remains one of my favorite discoveries in the series.
